The VIN code (Vehicle Identification Number) describe common characteristics of manufacture for individual vehicles. The VIN consists of 17 letters and numbers in total. In the EU, the last 7 characters are often required when ordering services parts.

This report pulls up all available data from the NVMTIS (National Vehicle Motor Title Information System). Additionally, the vehicle history report compiles all available records related to the vehicles VIN into a single report covering 60+ areas. This is also the highlight of the service. VinAudit will carry out a vin check for the most serious problems a vehicle could have which includes the vehicles past history. All vehicle data is limited to that of US records. The NMVTIS report is available specifically from VinAudit but not other entities such as Carfax, CVR, DMVDesk, Experian or TitleTec.
North American BMW vehicles (common locations):
1. The driver side windshield, bottom right facing outward.
2. Inside the driver's side door jamb.
European BMW vehicles (common locations):
1. Stamped onto the right-hand suspension turret in the engine bay.
2. A VIN code 'plate' is riveted to the left-hand suspension turret in the engine bay. This plate may shows additional information such as weight and capacity.
3. The passenger side windshield, bottom right facing outward.

|VIN number accuracy check digit, compulsory for vehicles in North America, but often used world-wide.|
